![]() Due to the fact that we are on Christmas break I decided to make a Christmas inspired cake. I was scrolling through videos of realistic cakes and came across a design for a Christmas tree. To get started me and my mom went to Harris Teeter and bought 2 boxes of Betty Croker Red Velvet cake mix, 2 containers of Pillsbury Cream Cheese Icing and 3 bottles of Harris Teeter brand green star tipped frosting. Out of all of my cakes this one definitely was the most expensive to make. I ran into several issues with this cake. First off when I was trying to carve the point of the tree, the cake started to crumble and would not stay together. I started to loose my patients and keep playing with it till I eventually got it to hold. I was able to freeze the cake and solve my problem. Another Issue I ran into was not buying enough green icing at first. I originally bought 2 bags of frosting instead of 3. I quickly realized that It was not going to be enough so I went back to the store the next day. Frosting the cake was very satisfying but took a very long time. My sisters friends were over the day that I made the cake so I had them be my judge. They are all middle school boys so I knew they would be honest and harsh in there judging. They were the perfect judges for my last cake due to the honesty. If I could re-due this cake I would re-carve the tree into a better shape. I would also make a star out of chocolate to put at the top of the tree. If I had more time I might also would have bought lights to put on it. ![]()
